André Kanasiro Spinelli Guimarães

    • Possui graduação em Ciências Biológicas (2017) pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Atualmente é mestrando no programa de pós-graduação em Letras Estrangeiras e Tradução (FFLCH-USP) sob a orientação da Profa. Suzana Chwarts. Especializado no estudo literário de narrativas do hebraico antigo, sua pesquisa tem como tema a caracterização de YHWH na narrativa de Balaão (Números 22-24).

      Descrição: A caracterização de YHWH, Deus único do judaísmo, é singular na Bíblia Hebraica, pois a divindade, conquanto personagem na narrativa, transcende-a no nível do discurso, elevando-se acima de outros personagens, do narrador e até mesmo do leitor. Essa dinâmica excepcional de caracterização é ilustrada de forma exemplar na narrativa de Balaão (Num. 22-24), texto carregado de ironia e ambiguidade que narra as tentativas de um vidente estrangeiro em amaldiçoar o povo de Israel com a ajuda de YHWH. A análise da caracterização será feita através dos critérios e métodos delineados pela crítica da narrativa bíblica, e as evidências obtidas serão utilizadas na discussão de possíveis construções do divino na narrativa.

      Descrição: Dendrophryniscus and Amazophrynella are two recently split genera of small, cryptic, forest-dwelling bufonids with no clear discrete diagnostic characters and no tested phenotypic synapomorphy. We analyzed the tadpoles of two species of each genus, describing external morphology, buccopharyngeal cavity and chondrocranium.

      Descrição: The oral morphology of anuran larvae has some of the most informative characters obtainable before metamorphosis, and as such has received much attention from both taxonomy and systematics studies. Nevertheless, tadpoles acknowledgedly show plasticity in response to environment changes, and it's not clear how much plasticity can be found in oral morphology. This project tested the plasticity of their oral morphology through experiments by variation in food and environment.

      Descrição: Traits of species that evolved to serve one function but were later modified by evolution to serve a new function are known as exaptations. While there are many examples of such traits, the process by which they evolve is still poorly understood. This project will advance our understanding of how evolution reshapes the genetic blueprint of species traits to create new, novel innovations. Traits associated with gliding and flying, like feathers, are some of the most notable examples of exaptations. Unfortunately, most gliding species are already highly specialized, making it difficult to study the process by which exaptation has occurred. Geckos, which are the focus of this research project, are an exception. Geckos have evolved gliding structures multiple times from flaps of skin used in camouflage and there are multiple species that together represent the complete transition from general to highly specialized gliding ability. These evolutionary replicates allow the researchers to test whether exaptation of particular traits follows predictable patterns and also provide a means of measuring how form and function interact to affect rates of evolution. This research determined the consequences of gliding-associated exaptations of geckos within a context of evolutionary relationships. Two primary research questions were addressed: (1) whether gliding structures represent exaptations that evolve in a predictable way, and (2) whether these traits or the associated functional shift represent key innovations leading to shifts in the rate of evolution in the affected clades.
